VIETNAM OFFICIALLY UNILATERAL SUSPENDED VISA EXEMPTION FOR 8 COUNTRIES DUE TO SARS-COV-2

Official information from the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany on temporary tightening immigration due to the worldwide outbreak of Corona.

The situation is complicated

In the complicated situation of Corona disease, up to 20:00 on 10/3, the world were recorded 114,191 cases of COVID-19 over 104 countries and territories. 7 countries have recorded over 1,000 cases, including: China (80,756); Italy (9.172); South Korea (7,513); Iran (7,161); France (1,412); Spain (1,231) and Germany (1,224).

4,019 deaths have been recorded, including 3,136 in mainland China; Italy 463, Iran 237, South Korea 54, France 30, Spain 30, USA 27, ... Compared with 9/3, the number of cases increased by 3,933, deaths increased by 191 cases.

Notably, in terms of genetic modification, Italy identified four strains of SARS-CoV-2 virus simultaneously, different from those identified in Wuhan, China. In addition, the number 17 patient from Italy returned to Vietnam and number 20 infected from patient number 17 showed a clear pneumonia (including interstitial pneumonia), and the disease was also worse than patients from the UK (faint symptoms).

I. Notice of the Vietnamese Embassy in Germany on guests entering Vietnam

1. On March 9, 2020, the Vietnamese Government decides:

(i) Unilateral suspend visas for citizens of 08 countries: Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, England, France, and Spain.

(ii) Suspend visa exemption documents for Vietnamese people and relatives residing in the eight countries mentioned above.

This decision takes effect from 00:00 on 12/03/2020.

2. Citizens of 08 countries (Germany, Denmark, Norway, Finland, Sweden, England, France, Spain), Vietnamese and relatives residing in these countries need to follow the procedures to be granted visa. Those with visas are considered for entry and must fully meet Vietnam's preventive medical requirements.

3. This provision also applies to Vietnamese and their relatives residing in Korea and Italy who hold visa exemption documents./.

 

II. Regarding the suspension of entry into Vietnam

On March 13, 2020, the Vietnamese Government decided:

1. Suspend entry into Vietnam of foreigners (including Vietnamese holding foreign passports) from the UK and Schengen countries or having traveled through these countries within last 14 days.

2. Suspend visa issuance at border gates for foreigners

This decision will effect from 12:00 on March 15, 2020 until April 15, 2020 and does not apply to foreigners holding diplomatic and official passports.
